Mr. Scharlock joined the Blackburn Group in
2009 as a Principal. Prior to joining the Blackburn Group, he held a
senior management position at Home Properties, Inc. as Vice President of
Acquisitions and Dispositions. While at Home he managed the acquisition
of over 18,000 apartment units valued at over $1.6 Billion in the
Midwest, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and South Florida
markets. He also managed the disposition of over 19,500 units valued at
over $1.2 Billion in the Midwest,
Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets.
Mr. Scharlock successfully repositioned Home Properties as a major
East Coast United States owner and developer of multi-family real estate
by coordinating the sale of two large portfolios in the Detroit and Upstate New York markets,
and then reinvesting the proceeds in the higher growth Mid-Atlantic
markets.
Prior to joining Home Properties, Mr.
Scharlock held a senior management position at an apartment development
company, responsible for land acquisitions and preconstruction
coordination. As a commercial real estate broker prior to his positions
in the multi-family industry, he completed over $500 Million in transactions
in a variety of multifamily, office and industrial properties.
Mr. Scharlock graduated from Loyola College
in Baltimore MD with a BA degree in Psychology and
received his MS.Ed. from the State
University of New York. He has completed various
real estate continuing education and professional development courses;
CCIM, NAIOP, and New York State Association of Commercial Realtors.
